How it works
Percent change tells you how much a quantity grew or shrank relative to where it started. The usual formula is (ending − starting) ÷ starting, expressed as a percent. A positive result is an increase; a negative result is a decrease.
percent change = ((ending − starting) / starting) × 100
When the starting value is zero, the relative percent is not defined (you cannot divide by zero). The absolute difference still makes sense, and this tool shows that even when the percent is left blank.
